Where Now on Brexit?

Yesterday, I wrote an article for The Sun on Sunday, setting out what the government should do next on Brexit, and the optimistic vision we need for the post-Brexit UK economy. I appeared on BBC’s The Andrew Marr Show and Sky’s Sophie Ridge Show to discuss the issues.

You can read my article here, watch my interview on The Andrew Marr Show here (from 16m) and catch a clip of my interview with Sophy Ridge here.

The UK after Brexit: A Bright Future for Small Businesses, Workers and Consumers

Today, I delivered a speech at the Centre for Policy Studies (CPS) think-tank in London. I explained why I am optimistic about the UK’s future after we leave the EU.  I set out a positive vision for post-Brexit Britain, based on free trade, competition-based consumer reform – and, above all, a focus on making the enterprise economy better serve small businesses, workers and consumers.

You can read a full version of my speech, and take a closer look at the reforms I propose here.

How Brexit can Still be a Success

Yesterday, I wrote a column for The Sunday Telegraph about why I will vote against the Prime Minister’s deal onTuesday, but how we can still make a success of Brexit.

This current deal would weaken our negotiating position with the EU and leave us bound indefinitely by EU-imposed rules. Rather, the UK should return to Brussels with a revised offer, which remedies the flaws in the backstop and ensures a transition to a ‘best in class’ Free Trade Agreement.

You can access my column here.

Also on Sunday, I was interviewed by Sophy Ridge on Sky News which you can watch here.

Interview with i News

Today, you can read my interview with the i’s Nigel Morris, where I set out plans to end the grip of big business on the housing market to support Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs), and introduce pro-consumer reforms to ensure that the housing sector works better for SMEs and low- and middle-income buyers and renters.

Reviewing the Year in Politics

This morning, I dropped in on Emma Barnett’s show on BBC 5Live to review the year in politics. I talked about Brexit progress, the Prime Minister proving the doubters wrong and then looked forward to 2018. You can listen here, from 12m20 in.

Post-Brexit priorities

I joined a discussion on the Today Programme this morning making the case that post-Brexit Britain can boost trade, but also strengthen other areas of social policy including wildlife and environmental protection.

You can listen here from 2h48m in.

Brexit Briefing

Yesterday, after a momentous week in politics, I appeared on Iain Dale’s Brexit Briefing alongside Jeremy Browne (former Lib Dem Minister, now the City’s Special Representative to the EU) to recap the week’s news.
You can listen here.

Breaking the Cycle of Brexit Pessimism

This morning, I joined BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme to respond to Sir Ivan Rogers’s (reported) comment that a UK-EU trade deal might take 5 to 10 years to finalise. I set out the case for a strong post-Brexit relationship with the EU on trade, security and other areas – something which might upset the gloomy pessimists, but which would be clearly both good for Britain and for the EU. You can listen here, from 1h33 in.
